Welcome to Nana, Markus, and Nick aboard Namani!

We are a family of three who recently spent a one-year sailing sabbatical aboard our 35-ft sailboat Namani.  We started in July 2007 with a sail from Sardinia via the Aeolian Islands to the Greek Islands (first Ionian, then going on to the Cyclades).  From there, we sailed back toward the western Mediterranean, Gibraltar, and across the Atlantic to the Caribbean.  After four very nice months in the Eastern Caribbean, it was up the East Coast of the US towards Peaks Island, Maine, where we arrived in late June 2008.  After some local cruising up there, we have put the boat in storage on the hard before returning to our jobs in Germany.  Now we're back in the "fatherland", scheming how we can put Namani to good use again in the not so distant future.  For some impressions of our year aboard Namani, you can watch this little slide show or scroll down for links to our blog.

We keep a separate blog page with our latest updates. We've categorized our posts there under four headings:

In addition there are a few posts that don't fit into any of the above:

See here for some photos from our travels.

There are also some video clips available:

Since we have only intermittent internet access we don't update this section too frequently.  Some information about our itinerary so far can be found here.  Otherwise our blog has the most recent information.
